Consultations on draft Reference tools

Review of published Reference tools

The draft versions of our Reference tools are opened up for public consultation before publication in order to gather feedback from a global audience of stakeholders (member companies, other companies, Trade Unions, NGOs, initiatives, schemes, service providers etc). This process ensures that the draft Reference tools truly reflect best existing practices and represent a broad consensus among stakeholders.

The Expert Working Groups (specialists from the Member companies) in charge of drafting and finalising the Reference tools will carefully analyse the comments and recommendations received for each tool and amend as required before final approval from the Advisory and Executive Boards and publication.

In order to ensure that the GSCP Reference tools constantly reflect best existing practices and maintain a wide consensus among stakeholders, all tools are regularly updated following a public review.

The review of the published Reference tools follows the same consultation process as for the draft Reference tools. Once the comments gathered through the public consultation have been carefully analysed and integrated accordingly, the revised versions are published following the approval from the Advisory and Executive Boards.

2012 - 2013 review of the published Reference tools

The GSCP has decided to align the review timeline of all five existing GSCP Reference tools to provide more coherence to our processes. As mentioned above, the objective of reviewing the published tools is to ensure that they constantly reflect best existing practices and maintain a wide consensus among stakeholders. Aligning the review timeline will allow for all of them to be updated and published simultaneously and for Equivalence Process Users to access the most recent versions while carrying out their Self-Assessments1.

Consultation period: 30th March – 15th June 2012

The GSCP Reference Code is now open for its second review and all the other tools are now open for review for the first time since their publication. The consultation were open to the public from 30th March until 15th June 20122.

We need your expertise and relevant contribution to make this happen!

All submissions will automatically be acknowledged by email however please note that although all comments will be carefully analysed we will not be able to respond to your comments individually.

Boards approval and publication: 1st February – 30th March 2013

Once the EWGs have finished with the review, proposed amendments and additions to the Reference tools will be presented to both the Advisory and Executive Boards for final approval. The updated Reference tools will then be published on the website and uploaded onto the EP platform.
